Production

Quick message: I'm done with my mid-term exams so production for the game is live.

I am starting building a proof-of-concept prototype. I would like to have this done in 3 weeks but I don't know how doable that is so I'm not making any promises.

Hello everyone, just posting a quick update about the project.
I am sorry about the lack of updates in the last days, i am starting the mid-term exams so I am quite busy.
As soon as I get past those, i will start production of the game.

I am going to start coding the basic framework this week and I will try to get a proof-of-concept demo out as soon as possible.

As for the art I said i would post, I am still fighting with my scanner to make it work, so no info on when i'll post them.

Goals


Hello people, today I will talk about one of the possible goals in the game.
There will be many possible goals in the game. For now I will only talk about the Trade Guild related goals, as I am still working on other factions and possible related goals.

The player will start as a member of a big trading guild, and will try to climb the ladder and become its leader. The player will seek power, fame and money. A trading guild does not only contain merchants, one needs to protect its assets, so a militia is needed. Guild are like private military forces with unlimited income.

In order to get to the top of the guild, you will have to start to get dirty.
Remember, in this game, your spaceship is your life. It will serve as your base, your method of travel, and much more. Your ship will upgradable and customizable to match your liking and your goals. Some upgrades will allow you to unlock various jobs. 
Here is a list of some tasks you might have to accomplish as you aim for the top.

Trader: You can go to a planet, or a space outpost, and set a trade point in your ship. With this, you will earn money for the time you spend trading.

Smuggler: The guild will give you smuggling missions where you have to bring secret packages to desired location without being caught.

Casino: Use your ship as a traveling casino and gambling den. Earn money and gain contacts as people come to waste their money in your spaceship.

Slaver: Become a slaver, catching people of interest and selling them on the black market.

Hunter: Hunt down various beasts and monsters, or rare alien races, to sell them on the black market.

Quests: Special quests can be assigned to you by high ranking members, if you accept them.

As you accomplish jobs, earn money and fame, you will be able to increase your standing in the guild.

Becoming the leader of a massive trade guild as a lot of advantages. are you ready to take the leader's seat?

Small update


Hello readers, I have a very small update for you guys. So today while I was at the university I decided to get some work done on concept arts and the general game universe. So i spent half my physics class writting down ideas for the universe and drawing stuff.

I have drawn some of the player's ship room’s concepts. I still can't draw characters properly but I can do some basic objects and rooms.

I cannot upload what I did right now because my scanner won't work but as soon as that is fixed, I will scan my drawings, enhance them in Photoshop (clean them up, add some color, fix different size problems,...) and then I will post them. Expect them to be up in 2-3 days maybe.

As for the world, I am trying to write down the different races of aliens I want in the game and make them all unique and interesting. I will be modeling the game's universe in the next few days to make it unique and fun.

Serpentus Sector

Hello again, i have been thinking of making some publicity for the game but without a name, it is a bit hard ... So, I have decided on a (tentative) name for the game. It is probably a temporary name, I have not yet taken my final decision.

The game will be named Serpentus Sector from now on.

My very first update on what I'm doing, yay!

In the last 2 days I have been trying to flesh out most of the actual gameplay mechanisms. I have put on paper most of how encounter and actions will work and how they will be linked. I have also written down how some of the jobs will work.

Right now i am trying to come up with a system for the number of actions player can do. In some games you have 1 action equals 1 hour and the game is limited to a number of hours each day (like CoC), and some others use "fatique" or something similar so that 1 action equals 1 point of fatique and you have a limit of let say 8 fatique.

I want a system that will be somewhat different and a bit more complex. I like the time based one but as my game is mostly spent in space where there is no actual day/night cycle, I want something more meaningful to the player. I do not want to force the player to go to sleep at xx hour and wake up at xx hour every day.

So that is what i have been doing in the past days, i will try to update the blog every day or two with stuff i am working on.

In the next week I might do some "concept art" ( again, I am no artist) and a quick drawing of what I intend the game interface to look like.

Unnamed project 1

In it's current form, the game will be text-based but I am aiming at adding some kind of visual art to it (maybe like visual novels). (I know it disappoints some that this won't be a full blown 3D game with epic graphics but i code and write, that's all ... just find me a team of 3D modellers and i don't mind making it!)

As i stated before, this game project is a science-fiction game, here are some additional details about it. I am gonna talk about some gameplay features without talking about the story or the world as those are not yet ready to be presented. I will not talk about the sex gameplay here, that will be covered later.

The game is based around the player incarnating the captain of a spaceship. You will have your own spaceship with it's crew.

In this game, you will be part of a trader's guild. The guild does trading between planets but also some black market trading, it will be up to the player to decide his or her own actions.

This game will allow the player to perform different kind of actions to earn money. Here are some examples, delivering goods to planets, smuggling weapons, smuggling refugees, attacking ship to steal their cargo, and much more.

As you travel through the galaxy, you will encounter various factions like other trading guilds, pirates and more, it is up to the player to decide if he wants to help a faction or not. In your journey you will encounter ships from various factions, so be ready for some deep space fights on board of your ship.

Moreover, as you explore the great emptiness of space, you will realise you are not alone. You will encounter beings that are not human and you might discover their home world. You have the choice of exploring it and pillaging it's resources and it's artifacts if you want.

In this game, i want the player to be able to explore a world that is alive, the galaxy will contain various planets, each with it's own unique features. As you play, you will learn about new species from distant worlds and interact with them. I want the player to be free to choose his actions toward each factions.

In this game, you will command a spaceship and explore the greatness of space alongside your crew, but i also want to allow the player to get off the ship and explore worlds on foot.

Artist?

Hello again!

I am working on some character concepts and I keep getting back to the same problem over and over again: how can I portrait my character in-game. I don't want my game to be only text-based, I want some kind of visual feedback. Some eye-candy for the user! I realise i have no skills in drawing but if it comes to it, i will try to make some art for the greater good of the project. But by all means i will try to find a better solution.


My idea would be to seek out an artist that would be willing to contribute to the project. I am looking for an artist ( no matter the level of skill and experience) to help me out on this project. The artist must be able to draw all kind of characters, human or not, or be able to design a graphical interface (button designs, ...).If the artist is willing to draw adult material that contains many sort of fetishes, that is a huge advantage, else I do not mind if the artist only wants to make erotic-free content, as long as he doesn't mind that his work is being used in a adult game.

Of course I know i gave very little info about the game. If you are an artist and you are willing to help my project, contact me and i will give you further information on the game.

Greetings

Hello everyone,

I'll start with my first post by introducing my blog and myself. This blog will be dedicated to my work on my various game projects. I have currently 2 game ideas i will be working on.

I am a 24 year old student in IT Engineering. I live in Canada, more precisely in the province of Quebec.
I am before anything, a programmer, so I have been searching for a way to put what i learn into a creative project that would integrate my various interests. I am francophone so please excuse my, sometimes, bad english, I try to better myself but i still make some mistakes.

After playing games like Fenoxo's "Corruption of Champion" or Anonymous Man's "Cursed", i decided i would do something similar, but instead of using a framework, I wanted to make my own. I have been juggling around with various game ideas for the last 2 years. About 2 months ago, i decided on a theme for my first game. I have been putting down various gameplay, mechanics and story on paper, brainstorming around with it. It resulted in my first project idea.

I will be building ground-up an engine (or framework) with a complete gameplay and story for a new original game. It will be time consuming and will require a lot of investment on my part. For this reason, I am still unsure about a lot of things around the game. The game will be a text-based RPG.

When will it be ready?
No idea... i don't have a lot of free time.

Will the game be free?
I do not know... it will depend of the quality of the game I make. If i feel i invested enough time and effort, and that the finished product is decent, i might ask for money. Another factor is if i need to hire an artist, as I said, I am a programmer ... so if i feel that nicer graphics need to be added, i might have to charge.

What is the game?
For now it has yet to have a name, I can say it will be a sci-fi themed game.
Bare in mind, it is a 18+ game with many fetishes in it.

What kind of sex is there gonna be in it?
For now all I can say is there won't be any guro or any loli.
